The folks over at Livewire were kind enough to send over a tasty sample of their newest product, Livewire Energy Chews! Like the other chews on the market, these guys come individually wrapped, and come in several flavors packed with caffeine. Right now, I have my hands on four flavors, and while each chew has 90~120mg of caffeine, I’m going to try them all out in one review (despite my now increased risk of cardiac arrest) Before we dive in to 400mg of caffeine, however, let’s see what we have in store.
The chews come individually wrapped, and come in boxes, each with two chews. The packaging claims that each chew will offer up to 3 hours of energy, and to limit yourself to 6 chews a day (I’m going to do four in about 10 minutes). From what I can tell, each chew has about 30mg of taurine in it, with about 6mcg of Vitamin B12. As far as the caffeine content goes, that varies per chew. Also, if you’re watching your figure, the chews are fat free, only have 3g of sugar, and are only 20 calories each.
Let’s start with the Pomaberry chew. Like the name suggests, this purple chew has the aroma and taste of the Pomegranate fruit. It’s pretty tasty, and it’s packed with 90mg of caffeine per chew. While this is on the lower end of the chews I’m looking at today, it’s still a lot of caffeine for a little thing.
Moving on to the Citrus Mango chew, which also has 90mg of caffeine per chew. This thing is just as, if not more, delicious as the last chew. It kind of tastes like fresh squeezed orange juice, with a hint of mango in it. It almost reminds of the Wired product I tried back last year.
While the first two chews were good, the next one is by far my favorite and blows the other two out of the water. Packing an addition 10mg of caffeine (putting the total at 100mg per chew), is the Livewire Chocolate Energy Chew. I have to say that they absolutely nailed this flavor. It tastes, well, like chocolate and nothing else. There’s no hint of any other additives, it’s smooth, and it’s the perfect amount of sweet.
Finally, coming in the lead, with 120mg of caffeine per chew is the Mint Chocolate variety. This, while good, still comes in a close second to the previously consumed Chocolate chew. It’s similar to the chocolate one, but it has mint (if you didn’t figure that out on your own by now). It reminds me a lot of the first chews (Buzz Bites) we ever looked at too.
While some of the chews out there are a little nasty, Livewire has done a fantastic job. The chews seems to kind of dissolve in your mouth as you eat them, and they keep a smooth texture, whereas others on the market can taste kind of grainy at times.
If you want to try some as well (which I recommend, because I’m absolutely wired off of these right now and they’re so good), head on over to their online store and pick up a few for around 44 cents each!

Is it just me or they look like condom boxes? Other than that, they sound pretty good.
This is a great review. We are glad you liked the product and enjoyed all of the flavors. I believe the product is the best tasting chewable on the market and our retail presence is growing rapidly. We just added the Midwestern Chain, MotoMart, and are excited by the sell through already. Check out our news at http://www.livewiredistribution.com and follow the Midwestern and Eastern regions of the country.
