Loud Truck Energy Gummies

Hey CG readers! Check me out on Twitter and MySpace and make me feel loved! :P The Facebook page is coming too soon, and I'm still working on updating the Twitter and MySpace

Loud Truck Energy GummiesWell, what do we have here? The generous folks at Chemical Evolution sent us some awesome products to review, and, well, we plan to review them! The products in the limelight today are Loud Truck Gummies; two different flavors of caffeinated, fruity, gummies!

The first of the two varieties are the citrus blast gummies. The bag is white and orange, features a green dragon, and boasts both no-crash energy and U.S.A pride. Each bag of the citrus blast gummies comes with 9 (the bag claims 9, but I lucked out and got 10!) energy packed gummi bears. Yep, that’s right, they’re gummi bears! One bag contains 32mg of caffeine, 36mg of taurine, 220mg of Vitamin C, and 60 calories. For a pack of 9 (or 10) gummi bears, that’s not bad! Upon opening the bag, there’s a great orangey, citrusy smell. As for the taste, the gummies have a great taste, there’s a hint of orange – they’re not overly powered, and they’re not bitter either. I like these a lot, and for 99 cents, it’s not a bad deal either.

The second bag contains the red blast variety, the stronger, cherry flavored variety of the two. This variety boasts twice the kick – 64mg of caffeine, 72mg of taurine, and 450mg of Vitamin C. The great part is that these are only 99 cents as well, twice the kick for the same price. These are just as good as the other variety, they have a mild cherry taste, and a great cherry aroma as well.

This is a great product, they’re caffeinated gummi bears, what’s not to love? If you want to try them out you can get the citrus blast ones here, or the red blast here.

Mtn Dew: Game Fuel

Mountain Dew Game FuelMountain Dew is back again with a new promotion and two new flavors. Introducing: Mtn Dew Game Fuel, two varieties featuring 121mg of caffeine and World of Warcraft in an attempt to win gamers’ hearts over. The bottles even display a link on the lower left for a free trial of WoW and a chance to win some nifty prizes! While I currently consider myself to be a recovering WoW addict, that doesn’t change the fact that these new products from Mountain Dew are pretty darn good.

The first of the two varieties is blue in color and features a Night Elf from Warcraft on the bottle. The bottle features a “World of Warcraft” branding, and a “Game Fuel” banner under the usual “Mtn Dew” banner. This variety claims to come with a “punch of wild fruit flavor,” which is extremely vague, but my not so vague taste buds tell me it’s raspberry. It’s a great, smooth taste, but it also seems a little familiar. I can’t be absolutely sure, but it reminds me of Revolution. I’ll be sure to compare them if I can find any Revolution, and if any of the readers can, feel free to let me know if they’re similar – or same – in taste.

The second of the two new Dews features an Orc and has a reddish-orange hue to it. It, like the other one, features a World of Warcraft branding and the “game fuel” tag. This product, however, comes with a “blast of citrus cherry flavor” and also seems to be familiar – like SuprNova. Either way, this flavor tastes fantastic as well.

To be honest, I can’t tell for sure, I want to say these two are Revolution and SuprNova reincarnated. If any of you readers have any SuprNova or Revolution stashed away, feel free to compare the two to Game Fuel, and drop us a line on whether or not they’re the same!

Which is your favorite "Game Fuel" flavor?

Kick Brix Energy Chews

Kick Brix If you keep up with Caffeine Guru reviews, it’s pretty obvious that the non-drink part of the caffeine market is rapidly expanding. Luckily for us, we’ve got our hand on one of the newest products on the market: Kick Brix. Kick Brix are caffeinated energy chews that promise “A monster kick without the bull.” After trying these things out, I have to agree. Kick Brix come individually wrapped and come in both 5-chew bags and economy sized tubs (good for the office or the kitchen counter). To best understand this product, think of large Starbursts packed with caffeine (is your mouth watering yet? :-) )

At the moment, Kick Brix come in two flavors, “Citrus” and “Berry Blast”. The 5-chew bag comes with both flavors, so we can check out both of them today. When you pop of these chews in your mouth, you’ll notice that at first they’re a little hard. After a second or two though, they soften up and are no problem at all to chew. Another thing I noticed, which I found interesting, was the chews strong menthol taste. The addition of menthol really makes these things stand out and it gives a relaxing feeling as the menthol clears your sinuses and throat. The first flavor, Berry Blast, comes in the red wrapper and is the slightly darker of the first two, whereas the Citrus flavor comes in orange wrapper and is a little lighter. Both flavors have the added menthol and have a hint of a fruit in them. The Citrus one has a more orange-based taste, and the Berry Blast tastes like, well, berries. To be honest, it’s hard for me to put my finger on the exact flavor due to the menthol, but they both taste great and are quite enjoyable.

Kick Brix only have 25 calories per chew, are sugar free, and contain 300mcg (1500%) of Vitamin B12. Also, these each contain a 150mg blend of panax ginseng, taurine, and caffeine. For those of you wondering about the amount of caffeine, each chew packs a punch of 90mg of caffeine per chew.

If you want to try some Kick Brix for yourself, they are currently having a promotion and are giving away free samples at their website!

GURU Juicy: Superfruit

GURU Juicy: Superfruit GURU’s newest addition to their lineup of non-carbonated energy drinks is also an addition to the GURU Juicy lineup. Introducing GURU Juicy: Superfruit, a caffeinated concoction with a plethora of juices that comes with a USDA organic certification. Superfruit comes in a bright red can and a bubbly background, like some of the other GURU drinks. This drink is also 100% natural, and, like all of the other drinks from GURU Beverages, contains no high fructose corn syrup or any other unnatural ingredients.

Superfruit lives up to its name with a really fruit smell. After opening the can, you’ll realize that this drink smells exactly like Hawaiian Punch (or Tahitian Treat, whichever your prefer) and has a light red, almost pinkish, color to it; it’s similar to the pinkish band on the top of the can. While this variety of Juicy doesn’t taste like Hawaiian Punch, it still tastes great with its medley of exotic fruits like yumberry, black currant, açai, and pomegranate. Having it be that this drink uses interesting fruits, it’s difficult to describe the flavor, as I can’t think of anything else that tastes similar to it.

As for the caffeine content, while Juicy has a different taste than the other GURUs, it’s energy blend is the exact same. If you’re too lazy to read my other posts on GURU drinks, I’ll restate the caffeine content here too for you. This drink contains 97mg of caffeine per 8.3fl oz. serving, so about 145mg per 12oz can. The proprietary blend is 1285mg per serving and consists of the standard guarana extract, panax ginseng, and ginkgo biloba mix, with an added Echinacea flower extract.

To summarize this drink, GURU Juicy: Superfruit delivers a nice boost of energy without carbonation of HFCS, and comes with an interesting, and delicious, flavor. You can find this drink in some health food stores, or you can buy it online (use PROMO CODE: Caffeine_GURU10% for 10% off).

Mountain Dew: Revolution

Mountain Dew: RevolutionLooks like this is the last review on the new Mountain Dew products. The final of the thee new varieties is called Revolution. Mountain Dew: Revolution has a light, almost clear tint to it and has a smooth taste. According to the packaging it’s flavor is Wild Berry and Fruit. This is by far the most vague flavor of the three new limited edition Dews. Which wild berries are used? and which fruit(s) accompany them? This is indeed a mystery I will have to get to someday. Moving on now. The flavor is tasty and original like the other two candidates and the caffeine content, like every other Mountain Dew as well, is 36mg/8oz and 91mg/20oz and it has a shot of ginseng for an added kick. Obviously, this isn’t marketed as an energy drink, but it’s good none the less. Unfortunately it doesn’t have enough of a mystery-wild-berry-fruit flavor to make it my top pick. WHile it’s great and I would gladly buy it, I do prefer the other two, as they are a bit stronger tasting, which I liked. Now that I’ve tried all three new flavors, I can finally make my decision as to which I will vote for.

Vote for Revolution

Here’s a brief overview of the three flavors:
SuperNova: Strong, fantastic, Melon flavor. I couldn’t put it down.
Voltage: Also a strong taste, Blue Raspberry flavor, put a little below SuperNova in my opinion.
Revolution: A smooth Wild Berry and Fruit flavor (still don’t know which berries and fruits) but not as stong as its too opponents.

I’m going to have to go with SuperNova on this one. I’m heading over to DEWmocracy right now to vote on it (unfortunately, Voltage is still winning) and I’d recommend that you vote for your pick too.

Mountain Dew: SuperNova [Updated]

Mountain Dew: SuperNovaMany of you may remember when Mountain Dew: Livewire came out a few summers back as a limited edition, only later to be permanently added to the lineup. Well, Mountain Dew is doing something like this again, only it’s much more democratic (or DEWocratic, get it?) . According to the Mountain Dew website, they called upon customers earlier this year to help decide what they would like to see in a new Dew product (they really need to work on advertising this because I never heard about it). They came up with three flavors, released them, and will keep one permanently depending on which one is the most popular. If you want to help decide on the new flavor, head over to http://dewmocracy.com and vote for your favorite.

Vote for SuperNova

I first came across these three flavors yesterday at the local BP and decided to give all three a try; the first being SuperNova. SuperNova is a ‘Strawberry Melon’ flavored drink with ginseng and is a light maroon color. This new version of Mountain Dew is very tasty. It has a strong, original taste and you can really taste the Strawberry and Melon.
To be honest, the taste is fairly subtle, it takes a few seconds for the flavor to settle in. It’s aroma and overall taste is similar to that of 7UP or Cherry 7UP (I still can’t decide) so while it is tasty, it doesn’t seem to be that individual of a drink, aside from being branded by Mountain Dew Edit: I don’t know what was wrong the first time, but when I tried this again it was so much better! I may have had a bad bottle or something, but I take back any negative comments about this stuff.
I was very happy with this originality, though I still believe that the Original Mountain Dew is the most original and best tasting. As far as the kick from SuperNova, it carries the average amount of caffeine in most sodas (36mg/8oz and 91mg/20oz), which can be seen on the label, as cola companies are finally starting to display the caffeine content (I believe it’s a regulation now) of their products. SuperNova is amazing! There’s no other way to put it. Hopefully the other two flavors will be to my liking as well, I’ll just have to wait and see.
