Enlyten Energy Strips

Hey CG readers! Check me out on Twitter and MySpace and make me feel loved! :P The Facebook page is coming too soon, and I'm still working on updating the Twitter and MySpace

Enlyten Energy Strips I remember a few years back when Listerine released their breath strips. I was amazed by this concept, that one could keep fresh breath, in the form of a strip, readily available for any situation that may demand it. Now, Enlyten has gone ahead and done the same thing, except they added caffeine. Let’s face it, no one cares about your breath if you’re slouching and half asleep, but with Enlyten strips, you can be fully attentive, energized, and have great breath!

Enlyten Energy Strips come in a small case that slides open to reveal 22 individual green strips. The strips are the same size as the breath strips on the market, only these aren’t smooth and plasticy; they’re a little rougher and have the texture of paper. They do however, have a fantastic minty taste that will fight any bad breath. The case suggests that you can place the strips between the gum and cheek, or on the tongue. I personally would suggest only putting them on the tongue, as when I put them between the cheek and gums, it got mashed, clumped up, and stuck to my teeth. (However, putting it between the cheek makes the caffeine get absorbed faster, so for best results, go with the gums/cheek method.)I had to brush my teeth to remove the green globbish mass of energy strip, and subsequently became depressed that I had to sacrifice a strip to my toothbrush :-( .It’s all good now because I still have 20 left.

The strip instantly begins to dissolve on your tongue, and delivers the caffeine while the strip dissolves. It takes a few minutes for it to disappear completely, and it makes your saliva glands act up a little as well, so don’t take one of these as you’re delivering an important business seminar to get that foreign investor to cough up a few million dollars to your company. I would however, take the strips beforehand to get some energy, as any savvy investor loves fresh breath and energy.

These energy strips contain zero calories, and each serving (3 strips) contains 150% of your daily dosage of Vitamin B6, and 125% of vitamin B12. Three strips also contain a total of 32mg of a blend of caffeine, ginseng, and gingko biloba.

Enlyten also makes strips with electrolytes, melatonin, and antioxidants. You can buy this fantastic product online, and one of Enlyten’s distributors, Mark V, has been kind enough to offer a free case (22 strips) of one of their products with every purchase of 1 pack (4 cases, 88 strip).

GURU Full On: Lemonade

GURU Full On: LemonadeGURU Full On is an “all-in-one energy drink and isotonic sport drink that will let you push it to the max while staying perfectly hydrated.” Think of it as a caffeinated Gatorade, only a lot better. Like the Green Tea variety, Full On comes in a bubbly looking, blue and green can, and is non-carbonated, making this beverage stand out from the rest. Currently Full On only comes in one flavor, lemonade. Before I sampled this drink, I wasn’t sure what to expect. I knew that it was marketed as a sports drink, and that it was non carbonated, so I knew I would in for something different. What I didn’t know was how it would taste, as the only hint I had was that it’s lemonade. With clues like that, the only thing I could conclude is that it wouldn’t be mango flavored.

Upon opening Full On: Lemonade, I instantly recognized the lemonade scent. Having it be that GURU Lemonade is USDA organic and all natural, it’s smell is exactly like that of organic lemonade: a strong lemon one that is not overpowered by artificial sweeteners and sugar. As a fan of organic lemonade, I realized that Full On would woo me with its fantastic smell and taste. If you’ve had organic lemonade before, you know exactly what Full On tastes like. If you haven’t, it’s like normal lemonade, but a little more bitter and lemony. Don’t think of bitter as being bad in this case, it’s not unpleasant; it’s just not overly sweet. The lack of fizzy in Full On makes for one smooth drink that’s great for any occasion, especially sports. It’s not too sweet like other sports drinks, it has salt (electrolytes) in it, and the lack of carbonation won’t upset your stomach while you wipe the field with your awesome skills, or whatever you’re doing at the time.

It’s an interesting concept, really. It’s just like organic lemonade, but it has 145mg of caffeine per 12oz can, guarana, panax ginseng, ginkgo biloba, and Echinacea flower extract; it’s everything a normal energy drink is without the additives and carbonation, which makes this a great drink.

If you want some for yourself, you can use GURU’s store locater, or you can buy it through their online store. If you use he latter of the two, be sure to treat yourself to a sweet 10% off and free shipping! Just use the coupon code: Caffeine_GURU10% at checkout.

FRS Lemon Lime Energy Chews

FRS Health Energy Lemon Lime ChewsToday we’ll start off with the first of four FRS Healthy Energy Products, the Energy Chews. The chews come in a resalable bag of 30, and each chew is individually wrapped. With 20mg of caffeine per piece, these energy chews are obviously weaker than the Buzz Bites, but the FRS products are marketed as energy for workouts ad exercise, not for high caffeine content. Nevertheless, these chews contain caffeine and deserve a spot on CaffeineGuru. When I opened the bag of these chews, an amazing aroma of lemon-lime overcame me. The actual smell of the chew alone is a little less ambrosial, but it still isn’t bad. The taste of the chew is a little weaker than the smell, a tad sour (form the caffeine and vitamins), with a hint of lemon-lime, and the texture is a little on the gritty side. Overall, it isn’t bad though, while the caffeine content is low, it still provides a small kick, and claims to provide essential nutrients such as quercitin and vitamins B1, B2, B3, B6, B12, C and E. The small size of the chews makes it easy and convenient to get a boost of energy on the go, or for a workout. If you’re interested, you can get them and the other FRS products for free (well almost free, as there’s a shipping charge) here and try them out for yourself.

Buzz Bites: Chocolate Energy Chews

Buzz BitesThe folks at Vroom Foods were kind enough to send a sample of two of their products, Buzz Bites, for review (just a side note, that I don’t bias reviews even if the supplier provides the product). Buzz Bites are caffeinated, chocolaty, candy chews that pack a whopping 100mg of caffeine, some taurine, and some ginseng per piece. Each tin contains 6 chews (only 25 calories a chew for anyone out there watching their figure), and costs around 4.00, or less, depending on how many you buy. This makes each chew average to a little over 50¢ a chew, which is a steal considering the chews contain more caffeine than some energy drinks and as much as a cup of coffee. So while 50¢ may be a lot for a plain old piece of candy, it’s worth paying for 100mg of caffeine instead of paying 2.29 for a less caffeinated Red Bull, or 2.00 for a cup of coffee. Buzz Bites come in two flavors: Chocolate, and Mint Chocolate. The chocolate ones taste like chocolate and have an ever so slight hint of bitterness after you chew it, which is to be expected considering the amount of caffeine in each mint. The mint chocolate ones, in my opinion, are better than the plain chocolate ones. They pack the same kick as the chocolate ones and are the same in every way, except for the flavor. They taste a lot like those Andes Mints, and they don’t have any bitterness, as the mint masks it. While I do prefer the mint ones, I really enjoyed both of these products a lot! The chews melt in your mouth and you feel the kick right away, faster than the kick from a cup of coffee. The chews are individually wrapped and easy to open, making Buzz Bites a great product to keep handy for when you need a quick boost. Finally, Buzz Bites didn’t give me a crash, making this product one of the best I’ve come across. You can get these Buzz Mints here, and they are becoming more available as they increase distribution.

Pimp Juice

Pimp Juice Extra Apple Energy Drink A few years ago, Nelly had a song called ‘Pimp Juice’ (hopefully the drink is better than the song). When it was released, many people weren’t quite sure what Pimp Juice was, but after reading this you’ll know; it’s basically Apple Juice. Pimp Juice comes in a 16oz can with a simple design of silver and gold and contains 10% fruit juice and 162mg of caffeine per can. After reading the ingredients of Pimp Juice and getting a whiff of the apple juice like smell, I figured that the drink would just taste like apple juice. However, I was wrong. Pimp Juice has a sour apple taste to it, not a normal apple juice taste like one might expect. The drink isn’t too sour, but it will catch you off guard at first if you aren’t expecting it. The drink is a neon green, the same color as Heavy Metal, and goes down well. The interesting thing about pimp juice that I like is that there’s no carbonation at all. Thus, this drink is really more of a Juice than a soda (I guess that’s why they chose ‘Pimp Juice’ over ‘Pimp Soda’). The fact that it’s not carbonated makes this drink easier to drink in a hurry, and does make this drink stand out with Rx Energy (which also has no carbonation). Pimp Juice also delivers a decent boost of energy and contains Guarana, Taurine, and, of course, Caffeine. The boost lasts for a decent amount of time, and it doens’t result in a huge crash either. I’ve never come across this drink in stores, but I know you can buy it at Xoxide Caffeine and at the Official Site. In addition, Nelly apparently sells it at his concerts and it’s supposedly big in the Hip-hop culture. Overall, Nelly’s Pimp Juice is certainly an interesting drink. With a nice boost, decent taste, and no carbonation, this is a drink that many people will enjoy. And yes, the drink is better than the song, at least in my opinion :D .

Nerd Energy Drink

Nerd Energy Drink BeverageNerd. It used to be a term to describe that one kid in high school that now makes millions from computer software, and then it became a term to describe the kid that always got pummeled by dodge balls in gym class. Now it’s an energy drink. Nerd is one of the energy drinks I received in my latest product shipment and I’m really glad I got it. Nerd Energy has a light lime green color (like Mountain Dew, but much lighter) and smells a lot like the Orange flavor of Hi-C. It also has an interesting flavor, it’s a citrus blend, and has a lemon-lime twist and a slight amount of bitterness/tartness. Nerd is not unpleasantly tart; it’s just the right amount to make the flavor interesting and good tasting. The concept of this drink is just as interesting as the flavor, Nerd energy drink aims to “Increase mental alertness, acuity and focus by increasing oxygenation and blood flow to the brain…maintain proper mental focus, memory function… and mental clarity”. Nerd energy delivers the same ingredients as it’s competitors, but in addition, contains Vinpocetine, Huperzine A, DMAE, and Ginkgo Biloba to help with memory. A medical student and an engineer researched other dinks combined the best ingredients from them to create Nerd back in the summer of 2006. Nerd delivers a good kick like other energy drinks, and does increase focus and alertness. This great drink contains 165 calories, 1500mg of taurine, 120mg of caffeine, and the memory retention ingredients, adding up to an Energy Blend of 2.64g. I was really surprised by how great Nerd is, and I’m going to get more soon! Unfortunately, Nerd is hard to come buy in most states, so you may need to check out NerdEnergy.com (currently offering free shipping 24-12oz cans for 48.00) or Xoxide Caffeine. Overall, Nerd is one of the all around best drinks I have come across, and I highly recommend this.
